Accreditation
For Physicians
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ASHP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Participants must complete the entire activity, including the case-study questions, in order to receive continuing education credit. Participants may print their statements of credit upon completion of the activity. This activity is available from February 15, 2008, until February 15, 2011.
For Pharmacists
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program provides 1.0 hours (0.1 CEUs) of continuing education credit (program number 204-000-08-405-H04P). Participants must complete the entire activity, including the case-study questions, in order to receive continuing education credit. Participants may print their statements of credit upon completion of the activity. This activity is available from February 15, 2008, until February 15, 2011.
Methods/Format
This CME activity is an online activity consisting of audio, presentation slides, post test, and activity evaluation tool. Participants must view the entire presentation and answer the questions that appear at the end of the activity. CME statements will be sent to participants via email within four weeks of completion of the activity.
Objectives
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Highlight key points of the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support and the ACPE Standards for Non-commercialism that relate to CE faculty.
- Collaborate with ASHP in planning and presenting CE activities that are scientifically rigorous, objective, and free from commercial bias.
- Describe the role of commercial entities in the development and presentation of CE activities.
- When presented with sample patient-case presentation materials, determine if the materials are in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
