Accreditation For Pharmacists
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 2 hours (0.2 CEUs) of continuing education credit (program number 204-000-08-567-H05P).
Accreditation For Physicians
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Accreditation For Nurses
Educational Review Systems is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by ASNA, an accredited provider by the ANCC/Commission on Accreditation. Educational Review Systems is also approved for nursing continuing education by the state of California and the District of Columbia. This program (RN# 05-115-08-568) is approved for 2 hours of continuing education. Nurses who complete the program may complete the CE test and print their CE statements at the ASHP Advantage CE Testing Center. This program is available from March 1, 2008 through July 31, 2009.
Accreditation for Radiologic Technologists
This activity has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) for 2 Category A continuing education credits. This program is available from June 1, 2008 through July 31, 2009.
Methods/Format
This is an online activity consisting of audio, presentation slides, post-test, and activity evaluation tool. Participants must view the entire presentation, take the activity post-test, and complete the course evaluation to receive continuing education credit. A minimum score of 70% (75% for radiologic technologists) is required on the test for credit to be awarded, and participants may print their official statements of continuing education credit immediately. The estimated time required to complete this activity is 2.5 hours. This activity is provided free of charge.
Target Audience
This program is designed for pharmacists, physicians, nurses and radiologic technologists who are interested in learning how other institutions are implementing processes to comply with the medication management standards for contrast media, and learning strategies for improving patient safety.

- Describe updates made to The Joint Commission standards as they relate to contrast media.
- List the two most common areas of noncompliance within institutions.
- List the elements of an appropriate screening tool used with patients for which contrast media has been ordered.
- Describe two policies or procedures that can be implemented to promote the safe use of contrast media within an institution.
- Describe the role of patient monitoring in a medication management program related to contrast media
